As you may know, the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) must be taken by all Grade 10 students in Ontario. Passing the OSSLT is one of the requirements for earning an Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) has created modules that were polished by D2L to provide all Ontario secondary school students with practice to help them pass the OSSLT. In order to prepare Ontario’s students for this important test, SCDSB’s OSSLT module is now available to all publicly funded district school boards through Ontario’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
Topics covered in the OSSLT preparation module include Getting to the Point, Making Connections, Inferring, Reading Between the Lines, and the Conventions of Language.
Module Features Include:
- Interactive assessment tools to allow students to practise using their knowledge
- Activities on topics covered in the OSSLT
- Teacher moderation
- Module quizzes that give examples from past versions of the OSSLT
- Diagnostic quiz that helps educators identify at-risk students
How to Access the OSSLT Preparation Module
Publicly funded school boards interested in providing this easy-to-use module to their educators and students may easily access it through Ontario’s VLE.
