D2L has a number of employee resource groups (ERGs) and committees that contribute to our culture and employee experience. Over the years, D2Lers have come together to create these groups and each emerged out of a desire to create community, facilitate important conversations, and provide training, resources and events to all employees.

What Are Employee Resource Groups?

ERGs are sometimes called affinity groups, business resource groups or professional development groups. Simply put, they are voluntary employee-led groups consisting of individuals in the company who join together based on common interest, backgrounds or demographic factors such as gender, race or ethnicity.

Explore D2L’s ERGs:

IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Allyship) aims to create a more equitable, inclusive and safe space for all Black, Indigenous and people of color (BIPOC) employees at D2L. Its mission is to create awareness for the experiences of BIPOC D2Lers while enabling a culture of allyship that supports equity in the professional growth and development of all D2Lers regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality and gender or sexual orientation. IDEA will enable community and network building, education, celebrating and elevating BIPOC D2Ler voices.

D2SLGBTQ+ is dedicated to the creation and maintenance of a safe and positive work environment for all. The committee champions 2SLGBTQ+ needs in the workplace, provides training resources for managers as well as employees, and leads social opportunities like lived experience panels and get-togethers.

Women in Action (WIN) aims to build an inclusive community that provides support for women to demonstrate and build their leadership skills and create awareness around opportunities and barriers women face in the workplace. This is important in helping D2L create a culture where women can bring their best selves to work and build vibrant ed tech careers.

Explore D2L’s Committees:

D2Well Committee works to communicate, participate, motivate and support wellness programs at D2L in order to:

  • create a healthy workplace and a culture of wellness
  • foster collaboration and enthusiasm among employees

The committee is made up of a peer group of employees across the globe who guide wellness information and activities for D2L’s wellness programs. In effect, the committee members become a wellness “champion” responsible for promoting D2L’s goal of creating a healthy workplace.

Sustainability Ambassadors help develop initiatives to engage D2Lers in sustainability. They aim to help reduce waste, raise awareness and embark organization-wide sustainability initiatives.

Social Fun Committee (SFC) is a group of D2Lers who organize and run a variety of events designed to engage employees and foster a culture of fun within D2L. The SFC plans events such as attending Toronto Blue Jays games, company days at Canada’s Wonderland, indoor rock climbing, badminton tournaments, Pi (π) Day celebrations and more.
