The Social Media Co-op Student will assist with content creation, management, and strategy across various social platforms for the Social Media team. The successful candidate will support social media content planning, creation, and post-production, including engaging with stakeholders and assisting with administrative tasks. They will work alongside a creative and dynamic marketing team to help execute social media campaigns and contribute to the success of the organization. 

What would my main duties be? 

  • Collaborate with Marketing and Creative teams to support social media campaigns and media generation. 
  • Assist in content creation, including short-form video and visual media tailored for social channels. 
  • Create and edit content for various platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn and Facebook. 
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure content aligns with brand goals and audience preferences. 
  • Assist with social media strategies to increase engagement and brand presence across platforms. 
  • Engage with online communities and track social media trends to inform future content creation. 

Work Experience: 

  • Understanding of social media dynamics, especially the role of video content in a business-to-business environment. 
  • Experience with social media platforms and how video and multimedia content can drive engagement. 
  • Ability to create engaging content that resonates with different audience demographics. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for crafting posts, captions, and engaging with followers. 
  • A team player with a proactive, adaptable mindset to keep up with the fast-paced, ever-evolving social media landscape. 
  • Comfortable with tools for creating and editing social media content, with emphasis on short-form video for platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. 

Other Requirements and Assets: 

  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities. 
  • Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for visual design elements. 
  • Strong analytical skills for tracking social media metrics and performance. 
  • Creativity and a passion for staying on top of the latest social media trends. 

Education Recommendations: 

  • Student enrolled in social media marketing, digital marketing, communications, or a related field. 
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Excellent writing and copywriting skills for various platforms. 
  • Highly organized, with effective time management skills to manage multiple projects. 
  • Familiarity with tools like the Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop) or similar video editing software. 
  • Experience with social media management tools and an understanding of analytics platforms is an asset. 
  • A creative mindset and a willingness to experiment with new content formats and strategies.

The expected weekly salary range for a student hire in this role is listed below. The base salary offered is determined by each candidate’s relevant knowledge, skills, education, training and experience. It is aligned to ensure both internal and external competitiveness using market data for the geographic location and school specific salary surveys.
