I transitioned back to the corporate world after a 5-year entrepreneurial journey in higher education innovation and joined D2L in 2022 in the India office. Despite working at D2L for more than two and a half years, each day begins with a new way of learning from peers, prospects and clients alike. I have never worked for such a supportive and flexible company. I’m often asked, “What it is that makes D2L such a great place to work?”, so I wanted to share my experience.
A Lifelong Passion for Learning
First and foremost, I want to emphasize that I am very passionate about the work I do, whether it is personal assignments or as a professional working at D2L. Higher education has been my forte for a decade and I love every bit of it. D2L allows me complete freedom and flexibility to make an impact. I have always felt very tied to D2L’s mission of transforming the way the world learns, but that’s not all that makes me who I am. I am very driven by the possibility of learning and growing within a company. I love finding time to learn in ways that help me in my current position, further my growth within the company and support my life outside of work. Having access to such a large depth and breadth of courses via SkillsWave is something that energizes and motivates me to keep on learning.
At D2L, I’m Continuously Learning
Additionally, I am sociable and enjoy stepping outside to meet new people every day. This not only allows me to learn, but also forms the foundation of my personal and professional relationships. D2L allows me to travel throughout India, connect with new people, understand their challenges and pain points and build business relationships, all while contributing to the larger goal of transforming education and making a significant impact. When I’m at home, I have the privilege of sending my kids off to school every morning and picking them up when I choose. I cherish these priceless moments and feel fortunate to experience this luxury in a busy world. This flexibility at work means that I can be involved with my kids, family and friends in many special ways.
As D2L CEO John Baker always reminds us – the goal is to reach every learner while transforming the way the world learns. D2L genuinely embraces this commitment to making learning accessible for all. I have witnessed colleagues and friends struggle at work due to the lack of a supportive environment where they can seek help, often resulting in them expending considerable effort to manage on their own. I want every person reading this blog to know that if they join D2L, they are going to be somewhere that will support them.
If you’re seeking exciting, memorable experiences and have a desire to make a meaningful contribution to society through tech-enabled education, apply now to join D2L.
