D2L and H5P’s Ongoing Commitment to Open-Source

The 2025 H5P Awards follow D2L’s acquisition of H5P Group in July 2024. In this acquisition, D2L has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the global H5P open-source community and fostering innovation in interactive learning experiences.

At D2L, we’ve always understood the profound role that community plays in creating better, more inspiring and engaging learning experiences. We are thrilled to support the H5P community and look forward to working together to build the future of learning.

As part of its commitment to the open-source community, D2L has made the D2L Brightspace user-interface (UI) tools and web components available on GitHub – helping enable educators and developers to leverage years of UX investment to build more accessible and consistent learning experiences. D2L is also adding resources to help the H5P team more effectively integrate the developer community’s contributions, such as pull requests, and investing in the H5P roadmap – all to help build a new standard for interactive learning for the world.

“We’re committed to empowering the H5P community and supporting the development of even richer, more engaging interactive content,” said Svein-Tore Griff With, Founder of H5P Group. “Our shared vision is to ensure that interactive learning tools remain accessible and impactful for educators and learners everywhere.”

D2L and the H5P team are dedicated to helping grow the open-source community, fostering innovation, and creating tools that can help educators and learners achieve exceptional outcomes. D2L and the H5P team are helping to build more dynamic, accessible, and impactful learning experiences for learners around the world.
