D2L Helps Opened Culture Unlock AI Literacies in Upskilling Course

Free course offered by Opened Culture can help educators and leaders apply AI in their roles

Press Release

D2L, a global learning technology company, shares that Opened Culture, a consultancy that aims to empower educational institutions and communities, has developed a course to help educators and leaders confidently integrate AI into their roles: AI Literacies Unlocked: The Essential Skills & Mindsets for the Future of Learning

AI is beginning to quickly transform the education sector, and the AI Literacies Unlocked course is designed to help equip educators, instructional designers, and leaders across all learning environments with the skills to leverage AI. Delivered on D2L Brightspace, the course can help encourage learners to apply AI in their roles ethically, creatively and critically. The course is free and open to anyone looking to develop and expand their AI literacy skills.

“I’m incredibly grateful that at a time when AI is becoming a powerful force in our learning ecosystems, we have this opportunity to help support Opened Culture and deepen awareness and understanding of AI’s enormous educational impact. It’s this kind of intentional capacity building that helps us build inclusive, innovative learning environments that aim to support the diverse needs of all learners.”

Dr. Cristi Ford, Chief Learning Officer at D2L

Based on research commissioned by UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE) and Shanghai Open University, AI Literacies Unlocked can help participants define AI literacies, skillsets, and mindsets – including why they matter to the future of learning and education – as well as real-world examples of AI literacies in action.

“This joint effort allows us to push the boundaries of what’s possible in digital learning,” said Dr. Angela Gunder, CEO and Founder of Opened Culture. “We aim to showcase how technology can amplify human connection and creativity rather than replace it. D2L’s dedication to thoughtful innovation and our eagerness to pilot and experiment make this a genuinely synergistic endeavor.”

Opened Culture is passionate about reimaging education and working towards a future where all learners have access to open and inclusive learning environments. In collaboration with a network of educators, institutions, and associations, Opened Culture can provide strategic insights, learning solutions, and dynamic research initiatives to help drive opportunities within education. D2L is proud to support the delivery of Opened Culture’s full suite of professional learning courses as they work to break down barriers in education.
