Innovating to maintain professional practice standards
The College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia (CMTBC), the regulatory body for registered massage therapists (RMTs) in British Columbia, is taking an innovative approach to fulfilling its legislated regulatory mandates by harnessing D2L’s Brightspace platform in two ways. CMTBC uses Brightspace both to deliver the online section of its entry to practice exams for RMTs and also to support ongoing quality assurance through online instruction in specific areas of RMTs’ professional practice, such as boundaries and consent.
Professional development at scale
Cybersecurity is a fast-moving field, and (ISC)² aims to ensure that all its 150,000 members stay on top of the latest developments. Its new Professional Development Institute (PDI) worked with D2L to launch a massively scalable training program, capable of supporting hundreds of thousands of learners in 175 countries.
Providing peer support in a virtual world
TCASE’s biannual conferences are a lifeline for special education professionals, providing a forum where they can share knowledge with their peers. When the COVID-19 crisis hit Texas, that peer support became even more critical to find solutions to a host of new special education challenges. In pandemic conditions, a face-to-face event simply wasn’t an option—so TCASE pivoted to launch its first virtual conference with support from Zoom and D2L’s Brightspace platform.
Turning challenge into opportunity
When the COVID-19 pandemic compelled higher education institutions around the world to switch to remote learning, the University of Guelph was well-prepared with a mature approach to effectively integrate technology to provide meaningful and engaging learning experiences. Using D2L’s Brightspace platform, the University rapidly adapted to alternative methods of course delivery, supporting effective transitions for students and faculty.
Flexible workforce learning
HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, worked with D2L to create pathways for learning progression for students enrolled in the College’s workforce development noncredit programs. In collaboration with local businesses, HACC is building stackable credentials that can be delivered online via D2L’s Brightspace platform, providing a blend of self-paced and instructor-led programs that help students develop and demonstrate new competencies.
