Delivering Excellent Learning Experiences at Scale

Challenge  Continuing decades of championing accessible education  As the alma mater of first man on the moon Neil Armstrong, Purdue University knows that every giant leap starts with one small...

More than 1,000 organizations in over 40 countries around the world rely on D2L to help them transform learning.

Our working relationship with D2L has been wonderful. They're so far above some of the other LMS platforms that I've had the opportunity to work with.

- Joy Karavedas, Senior Director of Research and New Program Development, Orange Lutheran High School

A three-year exercise in frustration became a three-month pathway to success once we started to work with D2L.

- Michael Crowe, Vice President Academic, Bow Valley College

You should absolutely, 100% go with D2L. I’ve been with them for 11 years. The system is incredibly stable. It’s incredibly flexible because what you need right now today may not be the same thing you need five years from now. Businesses evolve. Customers evolve. Things change, and D2L changes with you.

- Connie Ryan, Founder and President, Professional Development Institute

Creating a dynamic online learning experience

When the COVID pandemic swept across Canada, the University of Waterloo leveraged its D2L and Bongo solutions to help maintain high-quality teaching despite regional lockdowns. As pandemic restrictions eased and students returned to the campus, the organization decided to build on the success of remote learning by supporting a variety of blended learning approaches.

Modernizing university education with digital learning

Keen to expand its liberal arts and other programs, McKendree University set out to encourage more students to embrace online learning. To achieve this, the university replaced its inefficient and costly learning management system (LMS) with D2L Brightspace. It also leveraged a Learning Administration Manager (LAM) service offering to help streamline administrative tasks and implement best practices.

Purdue University Creates a Foundation for e-Learning Success

Starting university is a major milestone for students in their academic careers. It’s a time of new opportunities and challenges—and never has that been truer than for students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead of navigating a new campus, students had to adapt to online learning at the same time as their educators and administrators. Purdue University rose to the challenge with Learning Online 101, a self-paced Brightspace course created to help students adapt to virtual and dynamic learning environments. The course materials were designed to help students find answers to common questions about virtual learning and connect them with the university’s support services and learning resources.

Delivering continuous learning experiences on and off campus

Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) is the largest residential university in South Africa, attracting around 65,000 students a year. Widely known as a people’s university, TUT offers a rich multicultural student life, makes higher education accessible to students from all walks of life and helps create employability among the youth population of South Africa. In 2020/21 TUT succeeded in putting the D2L Brightspace learning platform at the heart of its university’s learning experience for tens of thousands of students.

Professional learning that respects educators

When the pandemic hit, D2L Brightspace helped Putnam Northern Westchester Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (PNW BOCES) accelerate the launch of remote professional learning options for over 1,000 teachers in New York State. Today, the platform provides a streamlined user experience with a flipped classroom model that helps educators use their learning time productively.

The Future of Upskilling and Professional Development

As the global digital economy grows, the demand for skilled talent is growing with it. It’s critical to encourage employees to learn new skills, but professional development initiatives are often overlooked and underutilized. To tackle the growing skill and talent shortages, D2L launched a new platform— D2L Wave. D2L Wave connects the workforce to a curated catalog of high-quality professional development courses and programs offered by top-tier education providers. To put its new platform to the test, D2L decided to become its own first customer of D2L Wave.
